Trauma and EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy allows clients to desensitize a traumatic memory or negative thought about themselves. Individuals hold memories in a specific part of the brain. EMDR allows the client to access the disturbing memory or thought and reprocess it to decrease negative symptoms related to the trauma.  To learn more about EMDR therapy, please visit www.emdria.org.

Play Therapy

Play is a critical aspect of childhood. Play allows children to express emotion, gain mastery, and make meaning of their lives. Providing a safe place with books, toys, art, and a sand tray allows children to express themselves using their language. It is essential to meet a child where they are and give them unconditional positive regard

Sandtray and Expressive Arts Therapy

The use of the expressive arts multiplies the avenues by which a person in therapy may seek meaning, clarity, and healing. It deepens and transcends traditional talk therapy by acknowledging that each person’s process is unique. While one individual may like talk therapy, another person may prefer to use journaling, movement, art,  sandtray, or a combination of different experiences during treatment.
